First and Second Grade Assistant Teacher
We seek an experienced assistant teacher to support student learning and development and differentiate instruction in a multi-age first and second-grade classroom. We welcome candidates who bring creativity, enthusiasm, and a collaborative approach to working with children. The part-time position is four days per week (M-Th) and entails working closely with a 1-2 Class lead teacher. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in education or a related field, significant experience working with children in a group setting, and familiarity with early literacy, early numeracy, and the Responsive Classroom approach.

Experience and expertise in early literacy and early math pedagogy is required. Experience with Responsive Classroom, inquiry-based curriculum, outdoor education, working with a teaching assistant or co-teacher, and multi-age teaching preferred. At least three years of classroom experience, certification, and a master’s degree in education or a related field preferred.

Substitute for Preschool - Grade 8, per diem
Do you have experience working with children and enjoy being part of a vibrant community? We seek per diem substitutes for grades preschool through 8, both in our classrooms and in art, physical education, and Spanish. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in education or a related field and significant experience working with children in a group setting.

AfterCare Provider
Friends School of Portland seeks a patient, caring individual to serve in its AfterCare Program. This person must have ample experience working with young children and a love of the outdoors. Experience could include camp counseling, babysitting, coaching, volunteer work, etc. Majors in Education are preferred, but not required. The applicant should identify with the Quaker values of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship, as these are the cornerstones of our school and the AfterCare Program.
This is a part-time position (6~15 hours/week):
Monday-Thursday 3:30 to 5:30pm and Friday 1:30-5:30 pm.
